Necklace is 20" long with Southwestern American (mine uncertain) Turquoise flowers set in sterling silver, measuring 1-1/2" in circumference. Necklace dates to 1985 and is in mint condition. This design was created by Jimenez and is instantly recognized as his unique style. He was born in the village of Tututepec, Mexico. He received a degree in science and art from the University of Benito Juarez in Oaxaca, Mexico and then moved to California. Jimenez became fascinated with Meso-American jewelry and clothing as a child when he and his father unearth a Pre-Columbian Mixtec Indian pectoral buried under their house. His jewelry has been exhibited at the Anthropological Museum of Mexico City.
