Description

This bolo has a principal pendant piece that measures 3" long, 2-3/4" wide. The bolo tips are enhanced with dangling Turquoise pendants that measure 1-1/2" long, 1 1/4" wide. There are sixty-eight set Kingman, Arizona Turquoise stones, natural color, with no cracks or chips. The black leather tie is new, replacing the damaged original tie.

Victor Emanuel Cedarstaff, a cowboy from Wickenberg, Arizona, is credited with inventing the bolo tie in the 1940s, and later patented its slide. While riding his horse on a windy day, his hat blew off. Wary of losing his silver-tipped hat band, he slipped it around his neck. Other cowboys teased him about his new 'tie.' Cedarstaff had an epiphany and created the first 'bola tie.' The name derives from 'boleadora,' an Argentine lariat.
